Dale made this Llanite sphere it from a large chunk of Llanite from Llano, Texas. Llanite only comes from one small area in Texas. Anything else referred to as Llanite it is not Llanite.
The stone is mostly Feldspar with a large amount of rare blue quartz and other minerals in very small quantities. When viewed in bright sunlight, the small blue quartz spots are bright, sparkly, and they have an unusual opalescence.
The photos of this sphere were taken in a very hazy sunlight and they have a lot of glare.
