This Llanite rare sphere is large, beautiful, and very heavy.
Dale made it from a large chunk of Llanite from Llano, Texas. Llanite only comes from one small area in Texas. Anything else referred to as Llanite it is not.
The stone is mostly Feldspar with a large amount of rare blue quartz and other minerals in very small quantities. When viewed in bright sunlight, the small blue quartz spots are bright, sparkly, and they have an unusual opalescence.
The workmanship of the sphere is outstanding and the polish great.
This Llanite sphere has a whopping 6.15″ (156.2 mm) diameter and it weighs a ton (actually just 11.6 lbs).
