Here’s an very rare specimen. It is a natural nodule of Kogolong, a stone from Tanzania that is used in fine jewelry.

If you have the heart to cut it, it will make amazing jewelry. The reddish color is due to the environment and it is only on the surface (the stone is like porcelain and the reddish color does not penetrate it).

From small chips around the nodule and with the specimen wet, it appears that the stone is of excellent quality very white and gemmy.

It is fluorescent under SW UV (pale green).

The nodule was photographed both wet and dry in sunlight (not very bright sun though). See more photos of this specimen.

The nodule weighs about 17.8 oz (504 g) and it measures 3.5″X2.8″X2.6″.

Salmon Calcite Rhombohedron Fluorescent MS17

This rhombohedral salmon calcite is an outstanding specimen. It has a light peach/salmon color, it is translucent, fluorescent, and phosphorescent. Under LW UV the specimen glows a beautiful pink. Under SW UV it glows a light pink and it phosphoresces (it glows light bluish purple in the dark) for a few seconds after the light is removed.

This specimen weighs about 1.4 lb and it measures about 3.5″X2.5″X1.6″.

Star Sapphire Corundum Crystal MS22

Here’s a natural crystal with top and bottom polished. The bottom was polished flat. The top was rounded and polished to exhibit the star. The star normally shows as a bright spot but under a strong light source it will display six rays.

This sapphire crystal weighs about 13.4g and it measures about 1.2″X0.47″X0.31″.

Ruby Crystal Large Polished Corundum Specimen MS19

This is a large (over 1 lb), natural, high quality ruby crystal. It is polished on top only and cut flat at the bottom.
