2.3″ Silver n Skutterudite Rare Egg Ontario Canada EG39
If you are looking for rare eggs to add to your collection, here’s a very rare one. It is native silver (silver) and skutterudite (black) and dolomite (white) from the famous silver mines in Cobalt, Ontario, Canada.
The egg is not only rare but also gorgeous.
Silver is not rare but from this locale it is. This is because all silver from this location was mined in the early 1900’s. The other mineral in this egg, scatterudite is rare.
The egg weighs about 9.4oz and it is 2.3″ tall and 1.7″ wide.
The dolomite is white and of high quality. There may also be some cobaltite since in the same general area where this silver was mined, cobaltite was mined as well.
The photos were taken outdoors in some sunlight and in the shade. The pictures in the shade show the silver crystals very nicely but there are unavoidable reflections of other things including myself and my camera as well.

This chrysocolla malachite egg is absolutely gorgeous. It has been in our personal collection for many years.
It is made of a conglomerate of copper minerals. Malachite (green) and gem stalactitic chrysocolla (turquoise) stand out.
The egg is nicely made and has a good polish. It has a slight uneven feel to it due to the different hardnesses of the various minerals in the conglomerate .

3.1″ Astrophyllite Egg Rare Stone Russia EG41
Here is a fabulous astrophyllite egg. It is large, and full of very sparkly bronze sprays on brown background and some nepheline (grayish/white mineral at the base of the egg).
The egg was made in Russia and it has great workmanship and polish. There is a naturally healed fracture with some light roughness in parts of it. The fracture does not affect the integrity of the egg. There is a slight uneven feel resulting from the different hardnesses of the matrix and sprays.
The egg weighs about 11.87 oz and it is 3.1″ tall and 1.93″ wide.
The photos were taken outdoors in sunlight. The sparkly sprays show well indoors but best under a reading light.

2.3″ Silver Eye Serpentine Egg Australia EG44
This is a gorgeous egg. It is made of serpentine that has almost parallel lines of shiny silver chrysotile.
Chrysotile is asbestos and care should be taken when working with such material. Asbestos is a known carcinogen. I think there is very little risk when the material is finished and polished. However, it is best not to handle it very much.
The egg is expertly made and the chrysotile pattern (and its contrast with the green serpentine) is very pleasing to the eye.
