Dale made the sphere from rhodonite material from Wrightwood, California.
Rhodonite is a manganese inosilicate (MnSiO3) where manganese is partly replaced by iron, calcium, and magnesium.
The sphere has a 3.7″ diameter (95.7mm) and weighs about 2.1 lbs.
