Return to Stone Spheres
This rhodonite sphere is unusual and spectacular.
Dale made the sphere from rhodonite material from Wrightwood, California.
Rhodonite is a manganese inosilicate (MnSiO3) where manganese is partly replaced by iron, calcium, and magnesium.
The sphere has a beautiful light pink color and black in amazing patterns. Some yellow color is due to iron oxide. The photos were taken in bright sunlight so, the pink color is lighter in the photos than in person.
It has a 3.26″ diameter (82.7mm) and weighs about 2.1 lbs.
