3.3″ Hematite Sphere Metal Ball Arizona SPOS44
Here’s an unusual and very interesting hematite sphere. Nothing unusual about a hematite sphere but this one is different. Most hematite spheres have a smooth and highly polished surface. This one is full of very shiny (mirror-like) or red/rusty vugs (could not get the shine in the photos). The surface patterns are incredible.
Dale made this artistic sphere. Intentionally, he did not do the final polish to allow the contrast between the matte finish of the surface and the shiny or hematite stained vugs. The sphere is outstanding and great for a sphere collection.

2.9″ Hematite Sphere with Quartz Crystals SPOS47
Here’s a gorgeous hematite sphere with quartz crystals. It is unsual and very interesting hematite sphere. Nothing unusual about a hematite sphere but this one is different. Most hematite spheres have a smooth and highly polished surface. This one is full of very shiny (mirror-like) or red/rusty vugs or small iron stained quartz crystals. I could not get the shine in the photos but the quartz crystals show nicely. The surface patterns are incredible.

Dale made this artistic sphere and gave it a good polish. There is a nice contrast between the polished surface and and the hematite stained vugs.
The approximate weight of the sphere is 9.25 oz and it has about 1.88″ diameter (47.8 mm).

2.75″ Pyrite Sphere Metal Ball Peru SPOS40
This Pyrite sphere from Peru is very attractive and full of vugs with shiny pyrite crystals. It is yellow, it glitters, and it is heavy but it is not gold. Well it is fool’s gold or iron pyrite (FeS2, iron and sulfur). The actual ball is more golden color than shows in the photos.
The sphere is outstanding and great for a sphere collection or decor. It was made in Peru but Dale reworked it to make it round and give it a nice polish.
The approximate weight of the sphere is 1.9 lbs and it has about 2.75″ diameter (70 mm).

3.55″ Pyrite Sphere Metal Ball Leadville Colorado SPOS46
This is a large and really heavy pyrite sphere. Dale made it from a chunk of ore from Leadville Colorado we collected during one of our rock hunting trips. The black mineral is possibly sphalerite as it is one of the minerals also found associated with pyrite in this location.
This ball is very attractive. The black mineral contrasts beautifully with the shiny silver/golden color of the pyrite. It is an outstanding ball and great for a sphere collection or decor.
The approximate weight of this pyrite sphere is 3.75 lbs and it has about 3.55″ diameter (90 mm).
Origin: The rough mineral comes from Leadville, Colorado, USA.

This pyrite serpentine sphere is very attractive. It has serpentine in various shades of green and shiny pyrite.
This sphere was made in Peru and it is of excellent workmanship. There is a slight but pleasant uneven feel to it because of the dissimilar hardnesses of the pyrite and serpentine. It is a great ball for a sphere collection or decor.
The approximate weight of this pyrite/serpentine sphere is 8.6oz and it has about 2.2″ diameter (55.9 mm).

2.2″ Pyrite in Quartz Sphere Yukon SPOS84
This wonderful sphere has pyrite embedded in quartz along with possibly hematite and/or other minerals. The rust color hairline fractures is a good indication of the presence of hematite.
Dale made the sphere and his workmanship is excellent. The sphere is very pretty. When you rotate it under a light you get golden flashes in gray/black and white background. Its polish is great. This ball is a great collectors’s item..

2.4″ Pyrite in Calcite Sphere Peru SPOS85
This pyrite in calcite sphere is very attractive. It has large pyrite crystals embedded in white calcite.
Dale made the sphere and his workmanship is great however dissimilar hardness of these materials create voids and undercutting during the sphere making process.
The sphere is very attractive and the calcite is fluorescent (pinkish red) under SW UV.
It is great for a sphere collection.

This chalcopyrite sphere lis yellow shiny and heavy and looks like gold, but unfortunately it is not gold.
