Return to Rare Spheres
Dale made it but also collected the material for this black jade and magnetite sphere at Stoddard Wells, California. There was not much material then and I am not sure there is any more left at this location. We used to go rock hunting there often because there were other things to be found such as actinolite and verde antique marble.
This black jade and magnetite is an amazing ball! The jade (nephrite) has wonderful and varying shades of gray/green color including black.
The magnetite is very shiny and has beautiful patterns. The magnetite can be gold plated with outstanding results. I do not know how it is done for sure, but I have seen this material with gold plated magnetite.

The sphere has about 2.8″ diameter (71.2 mm).
