This petrified pine cone is a section of a large Auraucaria Elongata pine cone. It comes from Patagonia.
This wonderful fossil pine cone section comes from our personal collection. We acquired this pine cone a long time ago when fossil pine cones were more accessible.
This cone is not polished. All sides are natural and somewhat weathered. It exhibits a lot of detail on the outside but cannot tell if the inside was preserved as well. The pointed section looks like the tip of the cone and there is a small indication (small circle at the very tip) that the interior is nicely preserved as well. The large fracture shown in the photos is healed (healed millions of years ago).
This Fossil Pine Cone is a beautiful and very rare collector’s item.
Origin: Patagonia, Argentina.

The cone, based on its largest dimensions, is about 3.8″ long 2.8″ wide and 2.2″ thick and it weighs 17 oz.
