Here’s a kogolong sphere. Dale made it from a rough kogolong nodule from Tanzania. kogolong is used in fine jewelry and I do not believe you will find a sphere made of this material anywhere else. This is an absolutely rare collectors’s sphere.
The material is like porcelain or common opal. It has an egg shell white color with very fine grey dots.
The sphere is flawless and it has a great polish. It is slightly fluorescent (pale green) under SW UV.
Its approximate weight is 6.25oz, and it measures about 2.02″ in diameter (51.3 mm).
