Return to Stone Spheres
This is a large and really heavy pyrite sphere. Dale made it from a chunk of ore from Leadville Colorado we collected during one of our rock hunting trips. The black mineral is possibly sphalerite as it is one of the minerals also found associated with pyrite in this location.
This ball is very attractive. The black mineral contrasts beautifully with the shiny silver/golden color of the pyrite. It is an outstanding ball and great for a sphere collection or decor.
The approximate weight of this pyrite sphere is 3.75 lbs and it has about 3.55″ diameter (90 mm).
