1.48″ Bumblebee Jasper Sphere SPOS13
This is cute bumblebee jasper sphere! It has wonderful colors and exquisite patterns on more than half of the ball. The remaining is a tan matrix that shines pretty good.
Dale made the sphere from a relatively new material that comes from the immediate area of a volcano, Mt. Papandayan, Indonesia.
The stone is a mixture of various minerals with sulfur one of the prominent ones (even the finished sphere has a slight sulfur odor). I would not discount the presence of toxic minerals such as arsenic so, if you buy this sphere, please do not lick it or make tea from it. If you work with rough bumblebee, it is a good idea to use personal protective gear.
Bumblebee “Jasper” is rather soft (so it is not a jasper). The photos were taken in bright sunlight so difference in color is possible.
The sphere has a 1.48″ diameter (37.6mm) and it weighs 2.64 oz.
